Lifelong learning

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lifelong learning’ (Colloquialism) is the “ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated”[1] pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Therefore, it not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development, but also self-sustainability, rather than competitiveness and employability.[2]

The concept Lifelong Learning was introduced in Denmark as early as in 1971 (see Bologna Process).

Evolved from the term “life-long learners” created by Leslie Watkins and used by Professor Clint Taylor (CSULA) and Superintendent for the Temple City Unified School District’s mission statement in 1993, the term recognizes that learning is not confined to childhood or the classroom but takes place throughout life and in a range of situations. Allen Tough(1979), Canadian educator and researcher, asserts that almost 70% of learning projects are self-planned.[3]

During the last fifty years, constant scientific and technological innovation and change has had a profound effect on learning needs and styles. Learning can no longer be divided into a place and time to acquire knowledge (school) and a place and time to apply the knowledge acquired (the workplace).[4] Instead, learning can be seen as something that takes place on an ongoing basis from our daily interactions with others and with the world around us. It can take the form of formal learning or informal learning, or self-directed learning.(credits to Wikipedia).

Stephen says,

Our school place or classroom is the world itself, and we are the worlds pupils.

What a great science laboratory, the fields, the garden, the park, the wood, the list is endless. Don’t forget your notepad and paper! or Tablet nowadays.

Energy and Environment in our 2016 world!

I suppose the big question we need to consider is :-

  • Will there be people around the globe dying because of environments becoming dangerous?

greenhouse effect

Well with the polar caps melting, the animals habitats are shrinking that’s for sure.

From a human point of view, this can obviously cause flooding, and put once lived on land under water! Whether this can cause death for humanity, I’m not to sure at my present understanding of environmental issues. If people are forced to move area because of flooding then human and social economics come into question, and as we know there is a direct correlation between peoples standards of living and health deterioration. The poorer someone is, the more chance that health deteriorates due to the pressures economically of living a basic healthy life. This issue is debatable though.

  • Which energies contribute towards a deterioration in our worldly environment?

The greenhouse effect is the process by which radiation from a planet’s atmosphere warms the planet’s surface to a temperature above what it would be without its atmosphere. If a planet’s atmosphere contains radiatively active gases (i.e.,greenhouse gases) the atmosphere will radiate energy in all directions. (Courtesy of Wiki).

The Earth gets energy from the sun in the form of sunlight. The Earth’s surface absorbs some of this energy and heats up. That’s why the surface of a road can feel hot even after the sun has gone down—because it has absorbed a lot of energy from the sun. The Earth cools down by giving off a different form of energy, called infrared radiation. But before all this radiation can escape to outer space, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere absorb some of it, which makes the atmosphere warmer. As the atmosphere gets warmer, it makes the Earth’s surface warmer, too. (Acknowledgement  https://www3.epa.gov/climatechange/kids/basics/today/greenhouse-effect.html)

By listing the top contributors to these greenhouse gasses will obviously show the root of the problem. However, the question at this point of the blog is does the economy take precedence over the environment. Yes or No or a bit of both!

Jesus is our friend forever!

Jesus our friend is with his loved ones forever.

We generally understand these kind of statements through faith. This deep-rooted, unreasonable but right and true way we come to this staggering decision to follow something, someone who we have never seen. Supernatural.

Those clever people who reason everything they do in life, and yet can’t reason themselves into heaven. Their intellect acting like a padlock, not letting them. They know without evidence, sir will mark their paper with a resounding, zero. Proof needed. The type you can see down a microscope type of proof.

Jesus isn’t this. OK, I say. You I suppose have loved I say. How do you put love under a microscope to prove that it exists? We do reach a stalemate. Both locking horns and grunting. A waste of life actually. Much better to walk in your ‘beliefs heavenly confines’, whether godly or not.

I like to say though, Jesus is our friend forever. All of us can scatter and walk in our actual directions at the foot of the cross. This is the best starting point for us mortals.
