‘This is what I’m meant to be doing’: the vicar welcoming Muslims to church

I’m stuck what to say Sally! Well, obviously Justin Welby, ArchBishop of Canterbury approves. Cobridge and Shelton are very high Muslim population towns. I’m still stuck what to say! Are churches, houses of God meant to support refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers. Actually, the answer is yes, but their spiritual needs, their Godly needs. Seriously though, from Allah to God in the blinking of an eye. You know what that means Sally, they’ll be off within the blinking of an eye also leaving an empty church. However, that’s not yours or mine or Justin’s or Theresa May’s fault, but the ‘fall of man’s fault’. I recently heard a pretty good sermon from an Indian man in a Methodist church where I shook his hand because he made such a good biblical teaching about Jesus! Praise the Lord. I do go to many different denominations though Sally, because where Jesus is, I am also. God bless.

The mistake of helping friends find Jesus

The mistake of helping friends find Jesus

Mark 6:4…But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.(KJV)

Hello friends, I’ve always, always fell for this one, where I’ve done the same mistake over and over again, resulting in bumping into that brick wall time and time again, sitting on the floor, rubbing my head, sitting on my backside thinking what hit me! I still make this mistake but far less nowadays, because Jesus spoke to me in the above verse by Mark, explaining where I go wrong and the rest of the world go wrong also when they try to help people find God! It’s such a hard thing to grasp and understand, you are such a nice person, you do good, you help people, you are a tireless communicator of the ‘Gospel Message’, and yet people for one reason or another ‘hate’ you deep inside. They disrespect you, they dishonour you. This is important to note: they do this (a lot do I’m sure) at the back of their mind, they are too cowardly to tell you their true feelings. Folks, Jesus loves you that much he tells you what these people are thinking, because this is exactly what his own people did to him.

prophet-withour-honour-1

Friends, we need to give our selves a break, so that we receive honour and respect from EVERYONE!

prophet-withour-honour-3

Put a moat of water around ourselves, a bit like turning your nice self into a solid castle that can defend you emotions and feelings from the onslaught of so-called friends, relatives, loved ones. It’s ok, instead of close people, even people you don’t know from your neighbourhood who may come near to you, but with a ‘double mind’, you now know you get nothing but dishonour from home, go to them by first dropping the drawbridge! Gee, this seems long-winded, however, it does remind you that Jesus was not just dishonoured but ultimately killed by his own kind. This I’m sure will stop you running into that brick wall of your ‘own people’. I recently found out that a person I’m sure once liked me was in fact the opposite after for the first time in about seven years I decided to challenge him! I felt such a ‘sucker!’, but it was Jesus in a way that made me aware. And all that we have to do is remember that like Mark 6:4 tells us a prophet is without honour in his own country, by his own kin and in his own house…. I think it’s a bit like the saying ‘familiarity breeds contempt’, this fits in nicely with the way Jesus was treated.

Can you see how lonely it is though folks, you are in a castle on your own, with a mote around you as a shield of protection. We were born to ‘socialize’, and be among people. What is the answer? quite simple. JESUS! we each individually have to listen to what Jesus tells us. I remember, VE Day (victory in Europe the end of the second world war) even the future queen of England Elizabeth the second, secretly dressed up and left Buckingham palace to join in the celebrations. It’s nothing so drastic with us, it’s just occasionally, when we begin to flag, to weaken, to become stressed, mixed up, Jesus can say to us ‘right my loyal follower, friend, inside your castle, up with the draw bridge, relax, I have some wonderful news for you…..’

Judaism brings God into the home in a way that Christianity rarely does

Judaism brings God into the home in a way that Christianity rarely does

Hello Friends, I myself am a strong Christian, I believe that Jesus Christ is the way to heaven. However, anything, and I mean anything that can help us strengthen our faith, (including other faiths) I also believe we should bring on board. Paul in fact states this in his epistles, any way is the right way as long as we a for Jesus, we are not against him.

However, Judaism is right in the above newspaper article I believe. They do bring their faith right into their own homes, and us Christians should do this also. Personally, my church goes everywhere with me in the form of my Holy Bible, which is God’s Word. Most people definitely don’t do this though, and church is that building they may attend once a week, reciting the liturgy and thinking ‘I’m now in the presence of God’ then leaving that building with God in it until next time. What a shame, Jesus should go with them and walk by their sides all the time!

god-at-home-3

Reading the article for a second time (please click on the below link if you would like to read this Guardian newspaper article), there seems to be a belief that bringing God out of the church and into the home is like taking God out of the holy place and putting him (her) into a profane one. All along the church has always been the ‘people’, not the building or even the ordained ministers. If you like it’s like the sinners as we are all sinners who are profane by our commandments breaking are meeting up and going into a usually very nice religious building to do public worship by reading from a liturgical sheet or participating in ‘non liturgical’ cries of hallelujah or praise the lord at that type of service. So how true to Jesus we are depends on how profane our home is, and all of this started during King Henry VIII’s reformation, which basically took away the ‘idea’ that God was only to be found in the church and the ordained priests were the only way to get to him!

god-at-home-4

Anyway folks, let’s make our homes our own personal churches I say, you are worth it, Jesus loves you. And let’s  walk next to Jesus every moment of the day.

When things get tough follow Jesus

When things get tough follow Jesus

Luke 6:12…And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God…(KJV)

Working on the Sabbath was a no, no, and as Jesus healed the man with the withered hand, the Jewish hierarchy, went out to ‘get Jesus’. In itself, just doing good, and laws, rules regulations are so severe, you could lose your life. This sort of thing, atrocity, still goes on today, around the world, and we are very lucky in the main, keeping free from this in the peace of our land.

However, when things do go bad in our day and age, even in a relative way, great natural disasters spring to mind like volcanoes and tornadoes, and that devastation from the resulting consequence, not persecution by people but death caused by nature, what can people do to survive thus staying alive to help the vulnerable survive and find Jesus. Copy what Jesus did in Luke 6:12 where he continued to pray to God ALL night.

But what does praying all night to God accomplish? Well God through Jesus can help you change your attitude for the better.

jesus prays all night 2.JPG

Get tougher, get you in good shape to ‘fight the good fight’, and be in a good positive frame of mind to help the vulnerable out there. This is what Jesus did, with enemies everywhere! Absolutely courageous, brave, healing on the Sabbath! in front of the foe. Jesus gave us everything, eventually his life, and without a shadow of a doubt it was ‘praying to God all night’ that gave him this power, this energy.

jesus-prays-all-night-3

So it’s there friends, one example of how to be successful, a winner in life. Follow Jesus, and when things really get tough, pray to God through Jesus, even holding Jesus’ hand All night. What fantastic power this gives us friends. But remember do this in times of great persecution, else just worshipping Jesus and receiving his love is good enough.

Everything begins to cool down sweet Jesus when we follow your example, the enemy just gives up and concentrates on the easier sinner out there, such is the cowardice of the devil.

Maggie Rowe on how she escaped from evangelical hell

Maggie Rowe on how she escaped from evangelical hell

Hello folks, this was quite an interesting read about how we can change our attitudes and perceptions about God, in this case in a positive way. However, eastern meditation was necessary also! Going through the mental health system though is a pathway that can lead past all different types of personnel. I myself was fortunate enough to find the love of Jesus through a less than traumatic event, however, as long as one finds Christ and more importantly stays with him which involves ‘not breaking the first commandment’ where I do this all the time, even without realising it, like ‘idolatry’, loving material things, buying that useful thing or lovely thing at the expense of worshipping Jesus. Then kneeling at the foot of the cross or alter, dripping in jewelry, praying to Jesus with the bracelet jingling from my wrist. Pure hypocrisy. Remember though folks, as I’m fortunate to do is ‘Love Jesus’ and stay by his side, he is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the, and when the truth is too painful at times it’s ok to have a little meditation for a minute or two, because at the end of the day if you really love somebody, you we always return to their side looking to hold their hand.

Has anyone kept their faith in Christianity?

Has anyone kept their faith in Christianity?

Has anyone kept their faith in Christianity?

Hello friends, I read this article in the British guardian news paper, where although the writer isn’t really a Christian, she wasn’t an agnostic (someone who believes you cannot prove that God exists) and she wasn’t an atheist either. However, the main point of her write-up is the fact that churches are getting less and less membership, and secularism is flourishing. The link to this sobering article is below if you would like to visit, very probably just confirming what you know already. What I would like to add to the title is: has anyone lost their faith without realising it? It’s like the parable where you sowed your good seed in your field, and at night the devil came long and sowed the weed seeds amongst your hard work. The devil is cunningly brilliant this is how he does it.

The cuckoo also comes along and lays an egg in your nest, resulting in the cuckoo chick pushing everything out, and you end up rearing an alien!

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/may/29/christian-faith-decline-britain?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_WordPress

Keeping our faith in Jesus is of paramount importance, and I’m not kidding you. The time when faith can slip, and especially talking about myself, is when things are going well in life, or not to bad anyway, and then…..well just loosing sight of Jesus just for one minute, like you turned the bend, you saw a lovely shop and started window shopping, you could still hear Jesus calling you from around the bend, you just went to the other shop window, then the other, Jesus didn’t seem to be calling, you were preoccupied, you nipped into a shop, you bought something, and when you finally got out of the shop everywhere was dark, night time, and your heart misses a few beats like you are a little scared but you don’t know why….you are on your own…

Please finish the above scenario off, it is best if you do it.

An old dented tin pot though beautiful inside.

An old dented tin pot though beautiful inside.

1 Chronicles chapter 22

5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

davids-temple-2

Hello friends, I’ve concentrated today’s post on David’s magnificent temple that he was inspired to build for the lord God almighty. This Temple was of absolute outstanding quality, beauty both inside and out, and was to be symbolic of God’s kingdom in heaven. This got me thinking, especially when proclaiming the Gospel, and trying to attract people, maybe for the first time to ‘have faith in Jesus’ and believe in his ‘word’. I mean if we approached potential Christians looking like a dented old tin pot, would they ‘buy’ the Gospel off us? or would they look at us and maybe laugh or something or even be repelled at this ghastly sight before them. If David’s temple was filthy and full of graffiti on the outside might they pinch their noses and just walk away from us ‘not interested’, not even seeing the majesty of God’s glory within! Or trying to sell the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the dark, where the people (who are lost themselves) look at you and see a silhouette and think ‘no thank you to that’, never seeing the love light of Jesus Christ in your soul, which would instantly convert them to Christianity. So the point I’m getting at is ‘presentation’ or first impressions are very important at being true ‘fishers of men’ and preaching the gospel message successfully. To be honest, I don’t have any tattoos, they don’t really appeal to me, although I must say some tattoos are like works of art and do suit people, and when I walk around my home town, the amount of people who wear tattoos are quite high, however when I went to a ‘Jehovah Witness Convention’ which I thoroughly enjoyed, all of the men wore very smart clothes in the main, suit and tie being popular, and I never saw one tattoo on anyone. Very good, clean, presentation. Certainly no dented looking tin cans. All nice and sparkling, ready to sell Jehovah! Presentation therefore is important when representing Jesus Christ. (although I couldn’t prove it, I bet there were still quite a number of people at that convention that actually did have tats – and other similar organisations would probably have the same split). But people aren’t perfect, no one is. The main point is being ‘beautiful inside’, then the tattoos would become transparent as Jesus oozes from you into the ‘lost lamb’. Our dented tin pot become like shiny chrome plate when Jesus came into our hearts, and that tub lard of a soul I once had was completely melted away when Jesus’ warmth sorted it out, like butter on an outside table on a summer’s day, melted away! So the next person that mutters ‘damn you’ or something when they hear you talking about Christ, may one day return with a repentant heart when they see Jesus’ beauty in you, and you aren’t that old dented tin can anymore.
