Come on, sell your car and follow Jesus

Come on, sell your car and follow Jesus

Luke 18:22Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me…(KJV)

Hello friends, I concentrated my post today by concentrating on the word ‘follower’. What is a follower? Are we really true followers? The answer is No, a resounding no we are not. I chose the above title because I did quite well for about ten years without a car, I cycled, caught buses, walked, jogged.

Then a few years ago I decided to buy a car again and thinking about the above verse of scripture taken from the gospel of Luke chapter 18, which is about the rich young ruler, who walked away sad from Jesus knowing he would not do as Jesus told him, ‘give up’ his wealth and follow him. It’s like we follow Jesus in this westernised high-tech world we live in, where I’m sure Jesus would be sad at how easy we have it, and more precisely how easy we get distracted on the computer and do other things. The good old days have long gone, in England, Staffordshire during the extended family years of the 20’s and 30’s where grandparents, parents and children and grand children lived under the same roof, and the little ones would help granddad to get about probably suffering with arthritis or some common ailment of the yester year period. Them days were ‘golden days’, where the young were nurtured to expand their mind and use their imagination a lot! Jesus silently approving I’m sure as stories were read aloud and the whole family sat huddled around the log/coal fire listening to the old bakelite radio, maybe to some ‘family favorites’ station, with a hint of Jesus especially around Christmas time.

Nowadays, Xbox, kids playing games, struggling how to spell at school needing to ‘Google’ everything. And some of those ‘x’ rated games on the market, Jesus would bury his head in hands I’m sure. But to follow Jesus. How to fight all of the anti – Christ people and things and teachings and….It’s not to late to sell everything and follow Jesus. It can be done. You see friends it all starts as that small seed of faith in the garden of our souls, growing into a huge tree of life’ our life, and we are ‘aware’ that to get closer to Jesus we need to ‘sell up’. Let’s give up something for Lent! That’s your personal choice. Give up something that just gets you a few millimeters to Jesus, not much but closer, definitely closer, an accomplishment that not many people ever get near. Getting nearer to Jesus though is definitely the right direction to follow him I’m sure. Oh what fantastic and pure joy, beauty and grace to follow Jesus and more importantly for the follower being ‘led’ by the one and only God. And then, well nothing to really shout about, just being true followers of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Everything is all right now friends, Jesus is calling, and we can hear him oh so clearly.

I am not a sinner

I am not a sinner

I am not a sinner!

        Eaton’s Bible Dictionary

The moral character of a man’s actions is determined by the moral state of his heart. The disposition to sin, or the habit of the soul that leads to the sinful act, is itself also sin (Rom. 6:12-17; Gal. 5:17; James 1:14, 15).

Hello friends,

You know, I know and Jesus knows that we are all sinners. But the majority of the world out there are in denial,

I am not a sinner b.JPG

no way are they a sinner, and people like us want our heads examining and staying well away from them. Getting out of that denial attitude is key to finding Jesus or finding ones pot of gold in life whatever that may be. It’s like a lot of these ‘help’ groups around the world, like alcoholics anonymous start off by saying in the group before they start to see ‘hello my name is whatever, I’m an alcoholic’, therefore if they admit they have a problem then they have got something to work on which they can hopefully resolve one day. People who don’t admit in public that they are alcoholics are destined to fail in their bid to become ‘clean’. Likewise, as soon as someone says that they are not a sinner, are going to have problems when it comes to mending their ‘spiritual disease’ caused by their sinful behaviour which they are in denial with.

The above friends can be a little hard to understand for most, basically because there are three or four important steps to grasp, and if one doesn’t see a step clearly then the whole picture or objective becomes clouded. We as Christians know these steps because this is what Jesus teaches us, however for the ‘newcomer’ who wants to find Christ then these beginning days for them need to be crystal clear. So ‘we are all sinners’, this is fundamental to believe, and if the person’s mind is saying no, no, no to this important fact, they are destined to be ‘like the seed sown on the rocky soil’, where their belief will soon perish at the first encounters of persecution. So that person needs to say between themselves and God ONLY! ‘Hello my name is whoever and I’m a SINNER’. What a great prayer for someone to start off with, Amen!

However, another important point to grasp on one’s journey to salvation is, the above is for people who want to go to heaven with Jesus Christ by their side, where this is the only way. Quite sever for most to accept, but once accepted what a beautiful life the Christian will lead. Amen.

God is our sword.

God is our sword.

Hello friends, I wrote this on Friday 20th April 2012,

Not a lot as changed over the last five years, just closer to Jesus of course!

Today’s devotional

God is our sword

Hello friends,

It’s a great comfort to know that God our Father is our sword in times of trouble, in times of attack from enemies who wish us doom. God through Ezekiel chapter thirty-five verse five tells us, who believe in his son Jesus :-

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

Ezekiel thirty-five verse seven:-

Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

Friends, summing up god’s words above, those who slay god’s children will be slayed likewise, and worse. It’s nice to know friends that god is our spiritual ‘armed forces’, and on the last day Armageddon is the battle field, where we’ll be safe at the back, in the rear with the love of Jesus, and Holy Spirit comfort.

god's sword 2

Friends, I believe that we wave palm branches singing hosannas to Jesus as he enters the kingdom to save us from our sins and lead us to heaven. On the other hand god our father waves the sword of his word at our enemies who try and follow us into the land of milk and honey, wishing us illness and plotting our destruction.

God’s sword will cut the weeds down friends, on the Day of Judgement, and our fruit and flowers will be left, reaped and gathered for heaven by Jesus’ angels at his second coming, appearing on the clouds friends, for us to see.

I believe friends that the angels will dig down to our roots on the ‘Day of Judgement’, our soul, where our whole heart, mind and soul will rejoice in heaven. Friends, it won’t concern us because we will be in heaven, the point being the weed’s evil roots and soul will be cast into hell also.

Thank you Jesus for giving us the word of god’s sword to protect us, giving us a clear and safe pathway into heaven.

Thank you sweet Jesus.

The miracle of water to wine.

The miracle of water to wine.

John 2:10 …And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now…(KJV)

Hello Friends,

This is another fantastic miracle by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, turning water to wine.

For sure this parable does seem quite complex to the people that don’t understand, and like the rest of Jesus’ teachings, what happens? people begin to mock and make fun of ‘the gospel teachings of Jesus Christ’. When understanding the works of Jesus, I personally like to relate similar parables in order to make a biblical point even more solid. I like to bring in the yeast or the leaven of the bread, and being wary of this when talking about the ‘water to wine ‘ parable.

So what are the similarities of these two parables in order for people to grasp the ‘truth’ of the matter. Well, Wine is fermentation of ‘SUGAR’, and bread is the ‘yeast’. Jesus said be aware of the yeast which represented the teachings of the Pharisees, like wise be wary of the alcoholic wine which is the fermenting of the ‘SUGAR’, the sugar in this case could represent false teachings also, so the best wine or the bare fruit juice is the best which is saved till the last, this has no alcohol which means from my point of view, the pure teachings only of Christ. Also unleavened bread has no ‘false teachings’ similar to the yeast that people add to the truth of God’s word making it less than holy.

Friends, we can always move forward confidently with Jesus in our hearts, and simple truths are all that we need in order to make those correct moves. Simplicity is generous, simplicity is the miracle, and for sure rude awakenings come to the unbelievers and backsliders out there when wine of ‘money makers’ or breaded yeast of ‘false prophets’ begin to ‘sour’ their soul. Being free from that alcoholic wine is so good for us friends where those people who are imprisoned by alcohol change to the glorious freedom Jesus’ loving truth gives us. We know friends that we don’t need miracles to receive Jesus Christ in our hearts, just a little faith.
